WHAT WE CARE ABOUT:

♥ Slowing down the fashion cycle

♥ Making everything from authentically happy, healthy origins

♥ Shaping a new future for fashion and taking our #SmashTessFam along for the whole ride!

ASHLEY FREEBORN (SMASH)
FOUNDER / PRINCIPAL / CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Ashley is a mama to two daughters, Francesca aka “Frankie” and Stella. After a decade in education and a leap to corporate training and culture in the finance sector, Ashley felt a pull towards a fun and fresh creative outlet. Following a summer fashion program at Conde Nast in London, UK, Smash + Tess entered the world! Ever since, Ashley has enjoyed every moment: designing, finance, coming up with fun and creative marketing campaigns, and all the bits in between. Smash + Tess has allowed Ashley to channel her innovative side and celebrate women – and better yet, spend extra time with her best friend and mom.
TERESA FREEBORN (TESS)
FOUNDER / PRINCIPAL/ CHAIR

Working in the financial services industry for all of her career, Teresa has always believed in people helping people. Raised in Tsawwassen, British Columbia with three sisters, Teresa’s love of sleepwear started early in life.

Pajama parties were commonplace at home, but Teresa was always frustrated that she couldn’t find any pajamas that were elegant yet playful. After her daughter Ashley attended fashion school in 2014, the duo decided to take the plunge with Smash + Tess. Teresa splits her time between sunny Cali and Vancouver.

Teresa is a passionate advocate for the advancement of women in leadership and is called upon regularly to present her views and thoughts to media and various audiences. She is currently authoring a book that draws insight from her laudatory career and aims to shed a bright light on what holds women back while importantly coaching men on how to become effective allies for women aspiring to advance to senior positions.
