Valentine’s Day may look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate love! Whether it’s with your partner, family, kids, friends, or you’re practicing self-love, we hope you can feel the love and sentiment of the day.
This Valentine’s Day, we reached out to Allie and Sam to share their love story and some date night tips with our #smashtessfam. We couldn’t think of a better couple to celebrate Valentine’s Day with us! They have always been huge supporters of Smash + Tess and such an amazing couple to have in our community. We hope you love them as much as we do!
Can you share a bit of your love story with our #smashtessfam?
We met on Tinder in 2014 (yes, a Tinder success!) and got married in September 2019!
What does your ultimate Valentine’s Day look like?
Dressing up, eating yummy food, and playing board games. Usually, we'd go for dinner, but this year I think we will stay at home with the pets and celebrate safely!
What are some suggestions for couples staying in this Valentine’s Day?
Make a restaurant at home! We do this all the time - it's so fun! One person cooks, the other can set the table. We usually get dressed up and even write out a pretend menu! It's so fun and feels a bit more special than an everyday dinner at home.
You are looking at IVF to grow your family. How has that experience been?
It's been a long journey so far! We're finally in our protocol now, but it's taken us about a year, and 3 failed IUI's to get here. I'm just counting down the days until it's over and we have our little babe to snuggle! It's an emotionally up and down journey!
A lot of your content used to be travel related. How have you had to pivot with a global pandemic?
It's been tough! We used to travel about 1 week per month, and now it's almost a year since we've been on a plane! Honestly, I've struggled a bit with thinking of things to write in captions, but it's been a good challenge for us!
Who inspires you?
Allie: My family! They're just the best and I'm so thankful for them.
Sam: Emma Watson. I love what she stands for and how she uses her platform for good.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
To figure out what you're passionate about and turn that into something you can do all the time! My mom told me I could make a career out of anything I love doing if I just thought outside the box and worked hard. And, here we are! I get to combine everything I love - photography, writing, travel, and most of all, working at home - and that's my job! It's wild to me to think that!
What is your fave way to rock your Romper?
I love throwing a jean jacket and boots on with mine - perfect outfit to lounge or go out!! Sam loves hers on its own!
What does your ultimate Sunday look like?
A walk at the park, cleaning (yes, cleaning haha), a good book, maybe a games night, and lots of coffee!
What is your go-to pump-up song?
Allie: Get Low (HAHA)
